Production company 10+1 Productions began shooting scenes on Peverell Avenue West yesterday, Friday, November 24 and will be filming at Dorchester Prison from next week.
The film features an Indian cast but is set in the UK in the Second World War.
It is a horror film which sees one of the main characters locked in a haunted prison.
Azam Iman, head of production and location scout said: “We are doing a Bollywood film shoot, we are going to be filming in Dorchester Prison for the next two weeks, this is just the exterior parts of it.
“Most of the filming will be done in Dorchester Prison.
“The bulk of filming is going to be in the prison, we were looking for somewhere local to shoot.
“I have been up and down the country and I haven’t found much that compares to Poundbury to be honest, this was perfect, the architecture is quite unique
“It is a horror film and in this scene, one of the characters is knocking on doors trying to find his sister.
“It is a full UK story, there is an Indian schedule as well but most of it is done in the UK, set in a Second World War prison.
“There is a famous singer in his second film, every other actor is up and coming.
“It’s nothing huge, it is not a big big production.”
The former Dorchester Prison which housed criminals, murderers and even held public executions is now a popular filming location for shows like Luther, Enola Holmes 2, and The Gold.
In recent months the prison has also been the setting for ITV four-part drama ‘Ruth‘ and Disney+ ten-part drama titled ‘Say Nothing‘.
There is a chance for Dorset locals to get involved and have their Bollywood debut next week.
The production crew are looking for male extras to film at Dorchester Prison between Tuesday, November 28 and Saturday, December 9.
