3 Bollywood Period Dramas That Sparked Controversy Before Release

Below are some best examples of Bollywood period dramas that got spiralled into controversy before release:

The most recent period drama to spark controversy is Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava. The makers released the trailer of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’s biopic a few days ago. When we think about period films and controversies, the first movie that comes to mind is Padmaavat. There was a lot of drama surrounding the film, starting with Sanjay Leela Bhansali being slapped on the set. Then, there were threats that Deepika Padukone would be beheaded because the Karni Sena group believed that the film showed a romantic scene between Khilji and Rani Padmavati.

Later, Kangana Ranaut gave it back to them in a statement that read, “Four historians have certified Manikarnika, we have got censor certificate as well, Karni Sena has conveyed this but they are continuing to harass me. If they don’t stop then they should know I am also a Rajput and I will destroy each one of them.”
