The much-talked about 2013 Malayalam suspense thriller Drishyam which has garnered immense appreciation and accolades over the years have now become one of the most loved franchises of Indian Cinema. After the success of sequel too in 2021, the makers have also announced a third instalment and since then, audiences can’t wait to know more about the Mohanlal, Meena starrer. Dropping a major update in a recent interaction is the director of the film Jeethu Joseph who is excited about making the third film on the subject but confessed about facing a few challenges.
Drishyam 3: Jeethu Joseph drops major update about Mohanlal starrer; says, “I am stuck in cracking a certain area”
In an interview with RedFM, Jeethu Joseph reacted to the current status of Drishyam 3 wherein he revealed that he is unsure of certain parts of the film and is not able to narrow down on how the story will unfold. Expressing his surprise over the film becoming a franchise now, Jeethu said, “I am blank right now. When I made Drishyam in 2013, I did not have a plan for a sequel. It took me five years to zero in on an idea. I had problems in one particular area in the film. Similarly, I am stuck in cracking a certain area in Drishyam 3. I know how to end the movie, but I’m clueless about other areas.” He continued, “The climax of Drishyam 3 is already in my head. I narrated it to Mohanlal sir and he liked it as well. But I want to crack that one area.”
It is a known fact that the filmmaker is currently promoting his other film Nunakuzhi. Referrring to how he was questioned about Drishyam 3 during one of its promotions, Jeethu added, ” I had an idea on how to begin Drishyam 3. But recently, singer KS Chithra had a query about it. Her query gave a different perspective on what would happen if the film began in different way.”
Drishyam traces the journey of a middle-class man who would go to any extent to protect his family. While the first instalment follows the struggle of Georgekutty and his family, who come under suspicion when Varun Prabhakar, the son of the IG Geetha Prabhakar, goes missing, the second one takes off six years after the events where Geetha continues her hunt for evidence to arrest Georgekutty and his family for the death of her son.
