Stree 2 has taken a monstrous start at the box office.

The film has crossed Rs 200 crore at the box office, compared to Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa, which are struggling to reach a respectable mark.
work in Delhi NCR, but due to some reasons, I am currently working from my hometown Patna, which is still considered a Tier 2 city, even after the metro line is almost complete (as they have been saying for 5 years).
I get invites for the media screening for almost all the films in Delhi, where I watch the movies one day prior to their releases but in Patna, I had to book the earliest show of Stree 2, which was at 9:30 in the late night.
I booked my ticket in a single-screen theatre, which is one of the oldest and is pretty popular in my hometown.
I didn’t expect many people for the first day, first show of Stree 2, but as the time closed by, the theatre started filling up and it was almost full by 9:40.
Watching a Bollywood film after 7 years
It has been seven years since I watched a Bollywood movie in Patna.
Seven years ago, I watched Toilet: Ek Prem Katha on my friend’s birthday.
After that, I only watched selective films like RRR, and Pushpa: The Rise in theatres in Patna.
The ‘mahaul’ of a press show
As a film journalist, while I get to see almost every film a day before, I really don’t get the ‘massy’ experience of public theatres.
The press show is full of film journalists who barely laugh at any jokes and cheer on any badass scene.
And as an avid watcher of cinema, I love to cheer and shout at the top of my lungs if any good scene appears, but obviously I have to act professional and not let the child in me go wild with excitement.
My experience of watching Stree 2
I knew that it would be a worthy experience when the cheering started on the teaser for Chhava, which was attached with Stree 2.
Believe me, Shraddha Kapoor received a thunderous applause like Salman Khan upon her first appearance in the movie.
Even Abhishek Banerjee received a huge round of applause on his entry; such was the craziness in the theatre.
By the time the film ended, I had a sore throat but it was all worth it!
My beat manager says that you should always watch a massy film on a single screen, but I believe that it all depends on the audience.
Stree 2 was not a massy film, but the audiences made it one.
My bucket list
For my next cinematic experience, I want to watch a mass-action South Indian film in a small town of South India on a single screen, because fans worship their heroes like gods down south and I’d want to witness the madness with fellow cinema lovers.
