Stree 2
Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor are set to make a comeback with the sequel to their 2018 hit film. This time, the story will bring a new supernatural character, the “Sarkata Bhoot,” to the town of Chanderi, promising a blend of humour and thrills. It will released on August 15 in theatres.

Vedaa
John Abraham will be back on the big screen helping Sharvari fight the systematic oppression of caste system in Vedaa. The film is directed by Nikkhil Advani, marking his third collaboration with the actor after Batla House and Salaam-E-Ishq. It will be released in theatres on August 15.

Khel Khel Mein
After the recent disappointment of Sarfira, Akshay Kumar will be back on the big screen to redeem himself with Khel Khel Mein. The film centres around a group of friends who play a game where they look at each other’s phones, only to have their dark secrets and lies exposed. The film also stars Ammy Virk, Taapsee Pannu, Vaani Kapoor, Fardeen Khan, Aditya Seal, and Pragya Jaiswal.

Regional theatrical releases

Thangalaan
Directed by Pa. Ranjith, Thangalaan is a historical drama that delves into the exploitation of labourers in the Kolar Gold Fields during British rule. The Tamil film stars Vikram in the lead role. It will be released in theatres on August 15.

Double iSmart
Double iSmart tells the story of an assassin who swaps memories with another person, leading to a series of thrilling events. The Telugu film stars Ram Pothineni and Sanjay Dutt in lead roles and is directed by Puri Jagannadh.

Mr. Bachchan
The Telugu film depicts Ravi Teja, playing a righteous income tax officer who is battling corruption and powerful figures. Helmed by Harish Shankar S, the film is a remake of Ajay Devgn’s Raid and will release in theatres on August 15.

Demonte Colony 2
The sequel to the chilling Tamil horror thriller Demonte Colony delves deeper into the eerie history of the haunted mansion. Nunakuzhi

Manorathangal
Manorathangal is an anthology with nine episodes based on MT Nair’s short stories. Set in Kerala, these interconnected stories explore the contradictions in human behaviour, showing how people can be both kinds and driven by basic impulses. It is streaming on Zee5.

Shekhar Home
Set against the backdrop of Bengal in the early 1990s, the film film focuses on two characters who become his housemate due to a twist of fate. The duo end up solving mysteries. It stars Ranvir Shorey and Key Key Menon in lead roles and is streaming on Jio Cinema.

Emily in Paris season 4 part 1 (August 15)
For the fans of Emily’s adventures in Paris, the makers are bringing the popular show’s 4th Season. The show, starring Lily Collins, will start streaming on Netflix on August 15.

Jackpot! (August 15)
John Cena and Awkwafina have collaborated to take you on the most fun ride this Independence Day. Their film Jackpot follows multi-billion dollar jackpot lottery winner Katie (Awkwafina) who must survive until sunset to collect her winnings. It will be released on Prime Video on August 15.
