Actor Nagarjuna is on cloud nine as his recent film Kuberaa, has earned Rs 100 crore at the box office. Directed by Sekhar Kammula, the film saw Nagarjuna alongside Dhanush in leading roles.
In a recent interview, the actor spoke about the success of Kuberaa, and also shared his opinion on the Pan-Indian trend in films. He went on to share details about his 36-year old film journey as well.
Nagarjuna On Why Pan-Indian Films Fail
Nagarjuna was part of pan-India films way before they became popular he went on to say why certain pan-Indian films failed today. Speaking to Middayy he said “When Shiva came in [1990], I tasted success in Mumbai, Delhi, and across the Hindi-speaking belt. It was fantastic. After COVID, everybody started watching movies in every other language. Every film cannot be a pan-India offering. It’s very difficult to be familiar with a different culture altogether. These days, a lot of people are failing because they are putting five titles underneath each film. [A pan-India film] requires a lot of planning and a [powerful] screenplay. Why did only Shiva work for me? I could have done a lot of other films. We didn’t make them because only a few films deserve to be pan-India.”
Talking about his long film career he said “Success makes you love your job. Longevity is quite difficult to achieve, especially in our field. Success and love for the job go hand-in-hand. I was fortunate that success was always around the corner.”

Kuberaa tells a story about a powerful businessman, Neeraj Mitra, who tries to exploit a oil reserve with political support. He gets Deepak, an honest CBI officer, to orchestrate an operation using a group of beggars as fronts. Everything goes well, until Deva decides to save his life and vanish from the scene.
