Omi Vaidya, known for his role as Chatur Ramalingam in ‘3 Idiots’, recently revealed an interesting anecdote from the set. He recalled playing Scrabble with an “extremely competitive” Aamir Khan, and how the star would often invite the cast to hang out at the IIM Bangalore campus after filming.
In a recent interview with the YouTube channel Enigmatic Horizon, Omi reminisced about the behind-the-scenes experience he had while filming ‘3 Idiots’. Omi stated that he was ‘a no-name actor’. “So, I didn’t think I would hang out with these people and that I would be kept separate,” he shared. He also revealed that good hotels were one hour away from IIM Bangalore, so Aamir Khan suggested that they stay in the faculty residences of the college that were empty. He revealed that though they had their own rooms and bathrooms, it was like living in a dorm.
Omi Vaidya recalled how Aamir Khan was so down-to-earth and mingled with his co-stars despite being a huge star. “Every night, Aamir’s assistant would come and ask us if we wanted to hang out with him. I was surprised because I am not from there, I don’t speak the language, I am not from Bollywood,” he revealed. Omi also added that they talked about philosophy and played some board games, during one Aamir got quite competitive.
He also talked about the time when somebody brought Scramble, and he was playing with Madhavan, Aamir, and maybe Kareena or Saif. Omi shared about how Aamir Khan became ‘extremely competitive’ and did not want to lose, when the games strengthened.
