Not all movies have everything going for them. Some become massive hits due to the star power, some rely on item numbers and marketing strategies. And then there are some that fall flat despite a brilliant storyline. But amidst all these, there are films that actually get everything right. A while back, I came across an engaging discussion on the Bolly Blind Community on Reddit. Members were asked to name movies that got everything right, from great plots to exceptional performances and unforgettable songs. While I agree with most, some of the responses are quite unexpected! Check them out:
1. Swades for me. Great music, great story, progressive, great rewatch value.
2. Has To be Welcome for me.. Everything is Perfect in terms of Comedy, Story, Screenplay and Dialogue… Music as well stands out.. All the Actors were equally Given Importance….
3. DDLJ, Jab we met, Welcome, BBB, YJHD, Rajneeti, Ajab prem ki gazab kahani etc etc
4. Taare Zameen Par. It’s such a good movie but I can’t watch it again because I can’t cry so much

5. Kal Ho Na Ho, Om Shaanti Om, Piku, Jab We met, Gangs of Wasseypur, Queen, Kahani.
6. Bajrangi Bhaijaan. That movie had so many opportunities to screw up, but they missed it all. He was honest and naive not stupid. Religious but not fanatic or preachy. Right dose of romance not overpowering the main story. It had Pakistan but not overly political or full on Tara Singh. Right amount of comedy and emotions. Harsbali was awesome.
7. Devdas. Such a beautiful movie. Also I’m a big SRK fan. Great acting, Great dialogue, great songs, beautiful set and costumes! I cry during the entire second half.
8. Swades, piku , Bombay (I dont know if you could call it a bollywood film or not as it originally released in tamil and then was dubbed into hindi as Bombay) , also Special 26 for some reason. All these movies had gotten each and every aspect of the movie right … from the cast , story 👑 , screenplay , direction , songs and even the directors ability to capture the right emotion with the help of his actors.
9. I can’t lie I feel like K3G got the family aspect right. The pressure from being the oldest and how if you do anything for yourself it means you’ve disappointed your family and basically destroyed everything they had planned for you. Of course it’s melodramatic and everything is to the extreme but with family it is extremes that you live at sometimes.
10. Kal Ho Na Ho. It has love, heartbreak, friendship, family values, subtle ways of showing body positivity, homosexuality and a lot of humour with one of the best albums of all time. Can be rewatched a million times and ends up being a tearjerker each time.
11. Lootera. To me it’s perfect. Has perfect casting, good background score, even great songs, the story, the melancholy, the cinematography and what not! Uff
12. I dont think Khakee really gets its due for being such a fast paced and entertaining thriller. And everyone was in top form, even Tushar Kapoor.
13. Dil chata hai Znmd Namstey london (forever a guilty pleasure) Bhol bhulyia 1 BB Chake de india Don 1 Dil dhadkne do
Is there any movie you think got left out?! For me, personally, it’s Akshay Kumar’s Baby. I mean, whatte movie!
