Squid Game star Lee Jung Jae, known globally as Player 456, has expressed interest in working in a Bollywood film
South Korean actor Lee Jung Jae, best known for his iconic role as Seong Gi Hun (Player 456) in Netflix’s global hit Squid Game, has expressed a strong desire to act in a Bollywood movie. The Emmy-winning star recently shared his admiration for Indian cinema in an interview with ANI, stating,
“I would love to be a part of a Bollywood film if I was given the opportunity.”
The actor is currently in the spotlight for reprising his role in Season 3 of Squid Game, which premiered in June 2025. Recalling his return to the set, Lee said the experience was emotionally overwhelming.
“It was a day of mixed feelings when I put on that green tracksuit with my number 456 on it and stepped onto the set again for the first time,” he said. “I’ve worked in this industry for quite a long time but I have never felt a rush of emotions like that.”
Lee also reflected on the unexpected global success of Squid Game, which debuted in 2021 and struck a chord with audiences during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I think it’s about timing. Many people were struggling in real life, and that was reflected in the characters in Squid Game. The overall timing of the show’s release, combined with global events, contributed to its huge success.”
With Bollywood becoming increasingly global and Korean content enjoying massive popularity in India, Lee Jung Jae’s comment has sparked fan excitement about a potential Korean-Bollywood crossover.
Squid Game’s latest season continues to dominate viewership charts, and Lee’s openness to Indian cinema hints at what could be a groundbreaking cross-industry collaboration in the future.
