Chhaava
Based on Shivaji Sawant’s book Chhava, Utekar’s film is about the son of Maratha warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj – Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Chhaava focuses on Chhattrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’s iconic fight with the Mughal ruler Aurangzeb and his army. The film boasts of music by legendary musician AR Rahman.

Vicky Kaushal (Uri, Sam Bahadur, Raazi) plays the lead role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and Rashmika Mandanna (fresh off the success of Allu Arjun’-starrer Pushpa) plays his onscreen wife, Yesubai Bhosle. The villainous role of Mughal king Aurangzeb is ably portrayed by Akshaye Khanna. Ashutosh Rana essays the role of Kaushal’s uncle, Maratha general Hambirrao Mohite, in the film.
Kaushal is receiving rave reviews for his fierce performance in Chhaava. The maratha warrior’s friend and poet Kalash, played by Vineet Kumar Singh has also caught the fancy of the audience and the critics alike. Singh’s character is mostly a soft one, typical of artists close to the king, but also witnesses a major violent flip in one of the sequences. The swiftness with which Singh manages to portray all the sides of poet Kalash is commendable and the actor is being praised widely for his performance.
