Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan is known to be one of the most secure actors in the entertainment industry. His recent revelations, such as knowing he can’t guarantee a great box office collection on opening day, show the immense maturity and acceptance the actor has. Back in the 90s, Saif, who is known to go out of his way to help his peers, was approached to star in a Bollywood film which also featured Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. The Bollywood fraternity is often scrutinized for being insular and filled with many dark secrets. Many actors like Parineeti Chopra, Kangana Ranaut, and others have revealed how Bollywood has strong favouritism and nepotism. However, the industry was not always like this. There was a phase, especially back in the 90s, when actors used to go all out to support each other’s films. Sharing one such incident, Bollywood actor Deepak Tijori, while talking to Zoom, reminisced that though there is no culture of going all out to support each other’s films within current Bollywood celebrities, there was a time back in the 90s when actors not only used to promote each other’s films but also used to feature in them as cameo appearances to help the film reach a wider audience.
Recalling one such incident, Deepak states that for his first film Pehla Nasha, he approached Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, and Saif Ali Khan to star in his film as cameo appearances. All three Khans readily agreed to help him. Deepak, however, recalled that Saif Ali Khan’s then-wife, Amrita Singh, was not too happy with the actor’s decision to star in his film and even tried to stop him by saying that actors express their support by attending film premieres, not by starring in the film. However, Saif didn’t pay any heed to his now ex-wife and eventually starred in the film along with Shah Rukh and Aamir. Deepak Tijori admitted that when Saif shared Amrita’s reaction with him, he was definitely shocked.
