Crunchyroll’s Biggest Sports Anime Is Getting a Live-Action Movie and New Season
One sports anime has absolutely taken over Crunchyroll since it premiered, and now it’s getting even bigger with the announcement of both a new season and live-action movie adaptation. Sports anime are some of the most intriguing releases out there because not only do they offer a lot of the high tension action that fans love to see, but there’s also a different kind of spirit of camaraderie tying every character together. But there’s been one anime in particular that’s blown up with fans by throwing that out completely. Instead focusing on how each individual wants to be the best player in Japan.
Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yusuke Nomura’s Blue Lock has been taking over the world since it made its anime debut few years ago, and has quickly followed it up with both a second season and full theatrical film. Now it has been officially announced during the recent “BLUELOCK EGOIST FESTA 2025” event in Japan that the Blue Lock world is getting even bigger as not only is a third season of the anime now in production, but there’s also a new live-action feature film adaptation now in the works as well.
Blue Lock Season 3 Reveals First Details

Blue Lock Season 3 does not currently have a release window or date as of this time, but it has been confirmed that it will be picking up from the events of the second season. Taking on the Neo Egoist League Arc from the original manga, Blue Lock‘s players will now be going up against a team of different players from around the world. Original series writer Muneyuki Kaneshiro shared the following hype statement about it with fans, “Season 3 is officially confirmed!!! We did it… Huge thanks to the entire Egoist production team…! This marks a brand-new beginning for Isagi and for us as well! We’ll be creating this with full ego, eyes spinning, and tongues out, so get on your knees and wait for it!”
Illustrator Yusuke Nomura stated the following about the new season, “It’s finally been announced! A brand-new anime series!! We’re finally bringing the Neo Egoist League to life on screen. The eccentric international players—who are even more intense than the Blue Lock team—are coming. Please wait for it!” But that is far from all of it, however, as Blue Lock also revealed the first details for its new live-action movie.
Blue Lock Live-Action Movie Coming in 2026

Blue Lock‘s new live-action movie is now in the works for a release sometime during the Summer 2026 window in Japan to coincide with the upcoming World Cup. Production on the film will be handled by CREDEUS, the same studio behind the live-action adaptations of Kingdom and Golden Kamuy. Further details about its staff and cast have yet to be revealed as of this initial announcement (not to mention any potential international release plans) but Toho will be handling distribution of the film throughout Japan next Summer.
With both a new season and a new live-action movie coming next, there’s no better time than ever to catch up with everything that has happened in Blue Lock so far. You can find the first two seasons of Blue Lock along with the Episode Nagi film released now streaming exclusively with Crunchyroll. So it’s time to jump into the wild soccer series and see why it’s been such a juggernaut so far.
