Rumors have erupted that one of Disney’s fan-favorite film series is getting three new movies… but some fans were left furious over the alleged plot.

Why? It seemed to hint that a beloved Disney prince had cheated on his wife.

An entertainment journalist known online as Beyond Reporter sent social media into a tailspin earlier this week when they claimed that Disney was making a brand new Descendants trilogy.

The first Descendants film, which premiered in 2015, followed the children of Disney villains Cruella de Vil, Jafar, the Evil Queen and Maleficent, who all live together after Belle and Beast banished all the villains to the Isle of the Lost.

It was a massive success and it ultimately launched a huge franchise containing many more movies and shows that follow the story of famous Disney characters’ children.

Now, Beyond Reporter claimed in a viral post on X (formerly Twitter) this week that they heard rumors that a brand new Descendants trilogy was in ‘early development.’

And while many fans were ecstatic over the report, some were not happy with the rumored plot. 

‘The new story will reportedly follow two new main leads: Princess Tatum Rogers and her love interest,’ Beyond Reporter said.

‘From what I know, the trilogy will introduce a new core group of descendants from films like The Princess and the Frog, Moana, Frozen, Tangled, The Little Mermaid and Encanto.

‘It’s pretty clear Princess Tatum Rogers is Tiana’s daughter, as they share the same last name.’

Beyond Reporter then claimed that Tatum’s loved interest is ‘rumored to be the son’ of Tangled character Flynn Rider.

‘The twist is that Flynn apparently had a child with a villain at one point, creating this new character,’ Beyond Reporter added.

‘For the parents of these new characters, Disney is reportedly seeking big, famous names to play them, similar to casting Brandy and Rita Ora in Descendants 4.’

Flynn famously rescued and married Disney princess Rapunzel in the hit film Tangled.

Many users were unamused by the idea that he had a baby with a villain, and wondered if it meant he and Rapunzel had broken up or worse – if he had cheated on the princess.

‘In what universe would [Flynn] ever look at anyone other than Rapunzel?’ asked one outraged user.

They claimed it will focus on Tiana from Princess and the Frog’s daughter Princess Tatum Rogers

But they claimed that Tatum’s loved interest is ‘rumored to be the son’ of Tangled character Flynn Rider, adding, ‘The twist is that Flynn apparently had a child with a villain at one point’

‘The f**k they mean Flynn Rider has a daughter with someone who ISN’T Rapunzel?’ wondered another.

‘We had the entire movie, series, AND that short of their wedding. Just for Descendants to come in and say Flynn cheated on Rapunzel?’

‘HE IS LOYAL TO HIS WIFE RAPUNZEL,’ wrote someone else, along with a GIF of a man slamming his fist. 

‘Ain’t no way you gonna sit here and tell [me Flynn] left or god forbid, cheated on Rapunzel,’ read a fourth tweet.

‘There’s NO WAY [Flynn] would have cheated on Rapunzel,’ said a fifth. 

‘Um what… how they have [Flynn] with someone who ain’t Rapunzel? Throw the whole thing away,’ urged a different fan.

‘This better be a working plot, ’cause Flynn would NEVER do that to his girl,’ stated someone else.

‘Don’t they dare do anything destroying Rapunzel’s and Flynn’s relationship, they are perfect and have to stay perfect,’ warned another user.

Disney has not publicly commented on the rumors, and the company did not respond to the Daily Mail’s request for comment. 

It comes after rumors erupted that the company was planning a live-action remake of the animated classic Sleeping Beauty… but with some major changes.

Entertainment reporter Daniel Richtman wrote on his site that the movie, called Aurora, will be a ‘reimagining’ of the 1959 classic.

He claimed that it will be set in Mexico instead of France, where the original took place.

Sleeping Beauty followed princess Aurora, who had been cursed by an evil fairy named Maleficent, forcing her to fall into a deep sleep that can only be broken by true love’s kiss.
