Live-action Chainsaw Man adaptation in works
A live-action adaptation of Chainsaw Man is reportedly in development. The update originates from film scooper @MyTimeToShineHello, who posted on X, “A Chainsaw Man live action adaptation is in development” on October 14, 2025. The post quickly gained attention, though no studio, director, or cast details have been announced yet. Neither MAPPA nor Shueisha has officially commented on the project’s status.
The report follows the ongoing success of Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc, which continues to perform strongly across Asian markets. Directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara and written by Hiroshi Seko, the movie adapts Tatsuki Fujimoto’s “Reze” storyline from the manga. It reached No. 1 at the Korean box office with $2.4 million over the October 10–12 weekend and has accumulated $13.7 million since its September 24 release, according to KOBIS.
At New York Comic Con, Masato Nakazono, Manabu Otsuka, and Yusuke Tannawa discussed the film’s development. They explained how the team expanded the manga’s dialogue and refined visuals to enhance the story for a cinematic experience.
Nakazono explained, “We worked together to highlight the essence of the original manga,” while Otsuka confirmed that the film serves as a continuation of the anime’s first season (via The Hollywood Reporter). Director Yoshihara described the action as “like an amusement park ride,” emphasizing the energy and emotional weight of Denji and Reze’s relationship.
The live-action project’s announcement arrives as Chainsaw Man gains renewed global traction through Sony Pictures’ distribution partnership for Reze Arc. The anime film releases in theaters worldwide on October 24, 2025.
