Hannah Minghella is exiting her post at Bad Robot to head feature animation and live-action at Netflix.

Minghella will report to new film head Dan Lin, who recently reorganized the division to place more of an emphasis on genre. Along with Minghella, Sharon Taylor is returning to Netflix to head up production on feature animation based out of Vancouver.

Karen Toliver, who was tapped to lead film animation in 2022, and feature animation president Traci Balthazor will be leaving Netflix after launching films like Leo and Nimona.

As previously reported, the new structure will see Ori Marmur oversee action, fantasy, horror and sci-fi titles, while Kira Goldberg will handle thrillers, dramas and family films. Niija Kuykendall will oversee faith-based, young adult and holiday offerings, while Jason Young will handle comedies and rom-coms.

Minghella most recently served as film president of JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot shingle, where she worked for four years. Prior to that, she spent nearly 15 years at Sony Pictures and Columbia. Her credits include Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, Hotel Transylvania, The Smurfs, The Amazing Spider-Man and 21 Jump Street.

Said Lin in a statement: “Hannah brings her unique skill set and experience to this role, along with strong relationships with top filmmakers. As a studio executive and producer, Hannah has overseen many franchise films across animation and live-action. I believe her expertise will deepen our efforts to bring variety and quality to both our animation and live-action family film slate.”
