Actor reveals the highest paying project he’s ever been a part of
Adnan Shah Tipu, known for his versatility as an actor, has worked across multiple entertainment industries, including Pakistan, Bollywood, and Hollywood. His body of work spans films and dramas, capturing the attention of diverse audiences. Recently, during an appearance on a talk show, Tipu delved into the often-discussed topic of the wage gap between Hollywood and Bollywood productions. When asked which project had offered him the highest pay, the actor confidently said, “Hollywood.”
Expanding on this revelation, the Bakhtawar star shared insights into the substantial differences between working in Hollywood and Bollywood. “I was paid much more for just two scenes in a Hollywood project than for an entire Bollywood film,” he disclosed. He also revealed that apart from monetary compensation, Hollywood also offered him and his wife luxurious amenities. “My wife and I were accommodated in a seven-star hotel, and they covered our business-class flight tickets.”
The audience was shocked at how drastic the wage difference was. A user said, “If Bollywood pays less according to Adnan, imagine how much lesser Lollywood must pay. Feeling sorry for our actors.” Another added, “Wow, this is eye-opening! I had no idea the pay gap was so huge between Hollywood and Bollywood. I don’t even want to think about Lollywood.”
During the same talk show, Adnan was asked to reflect on his experience working with the acclaimed Bollywood actor, Om Puri. “I think he is one of the finest actors I have seen working in front of me,” Tipu remarked, praising Puri’s exceptional talent. He recounted a significant moment while they were both working on a Hollywood film.
“I was arguing with the director, saying I represent Pakistani culture and the way it’s being portrayed is wrong. I told the director maybe they’re mistaking Pakistani culture for Indian culture,” Tipu explained. His commitment to cultural authenticity led him to consider quitting the project, however, Puri intervened. “Om Puri persuaded me to remain part of the project, which turned out to be a good decision,” he said.
Tipu’s recent work has continued to garner acclaim. He received praise for his role in the comedy drama Standup Girl, written by Bee Gul. Additionally, the film In Flames was met with a standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival last year in which he played the role of Uncle Nasir.
In Flames is a gripping tale revolving around a mother and daughter whose lives are upended by the resurgence of individuals from their past—both real and supernatural. Their tenuous existence becomes imperilled, and their only hope lies in finding strength within their bond to overcome the menacing forces that threaten to engulf them. This horror film explores themes of women’s rights while defying patriarchal norms.
