A LEGENDARY Hollywood actor dropped a huge hint he’ll reprise iconic role 25 years after the film was a box office smash hit.
The film star has a huge career and a string of hit movies but there is only one role he’d love to return to.
Jim Carrey, 62, is a Canadian-American actor and comedian mainly known for his funny slapstick performances that leaves fans in fits of giggles.
He broke out as a film star after starring in a string of box office hits, including Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, The Mask, Dumb and Dumber, Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls, and Batman Forever.
He then continued to have success as a leading actor in comedies such as Liar Liar, Bruce Almighty and the hilarious Yes Man.
But Jim isn’t just a comedy actor and he’s also had success in more dramatic roles including The Truman Show, Man on the Moon and the romantic film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
But in 2017, he opened up to The Wrap about the mental pressures that acting so many different people had him on him.
He said: “As an actor you play characters, and if you go deep enough into those characters, you realise your own character is pretty thin to begin with.
“You suddenly have this separation and go, ‘Who’s Jim Carrey? Oh, he doesn’t exist actually’.”
Later in 2022, he announced that he was considering retirement, saying: “I have enough. I’ve done enough. I am enough.”
However luckily for his fans, in 2024, Jim returned to acting and revealed that he would reprise his role as Dr. Robotnik in Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
Jim told Variety that he agreed to return to the Sonic universe because “I bought a lot of stuff and I need the money, frankly.”
But in December last year, Jim was asked which character he would most love to play one more time during a press event.
Jim told Comicbook.com: “Oh, gosh, you know, if we could figure out the Grinch…
“The thing about it is, on the day, I do that with a ton of makeup and can hardly breathe.
“It was an extremely excruciating process. The children were in my mind all the time.
“‘It’s for the kids. It’s for the kids. It’s for the kids.
“And now, with motion capture and things like that, I could be free to do other things. Anything is possible in this world!”
In the original 2000 film The Grinch that stole Christmas, Jim had to wear a heavy green suit and suffocating makeup.
But with new technology – he could be back on our screens and what a wonderful Christmas present that would be for the film’s legion of loyal fans!
