Fans are celebrating the comedy movieWhite Chicks in honor of its 20th anniversary. The online celebration led to one person on X claiming that the film is racist, prompting a reply from one of its stars.
Released on June 23, 2004, White Chicks was directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans. It starred Marlon Wayans and Shawn Wayans as brothers working for the FBI who go undercover as white women to foil a kidnapping plot. Though it wasn’t embraced by critics at the time, the film has become a cult classic. Amid the online fan celebration for the film, a post on X stated that White Chicks is the “most racist movie that ever came out of Hollywood.” Marlon Wayans shared the post while asking his followers, “Do y’all agree?!”

A second movie isn’t out of the question. The Wayans brothers have shown interest in recent years in making White Chicks 2. In 2019, actor Terry Crews, who also appeared in the film, said that a sequel was in the works. Marlon Wayans later debunked that a sequel was officially happening, but he noted how often fans approach him asking for the next movie to be made.
Will White Chicks 2 Ever Happen?
“People always say, ‘Could you do a White Chicks 2 now?’ I think definitely,” he told People. “A good joke is when you can make the people you’re parodying laugh. Who loves White Chicks the most? White chicks. In this environment, in this climate, we all need something to laugh at about ourselves.”
Wayans would go on to say that a sequel to the film was “necessary” in 2021. More recently, Wayans said he would do the sequel, but he wasn’t exactly campaigning for it because it’s not his call for the movie to get made. He told Revolt’s “Drink Champs” in 2023, “If we do White Chicks, it gotta be me and Shawn [Wayans]… we’ll see. I don’t throw that into the universe because I don’t control it. But I would do a White Chicks 2.”
