Zac Efron has been cast as one of the leads in a remake of the 1987 film Three Men and a Baby for Disney and we’re not sure our ovaries will be able to handle it.
The plot follows three bachelors (played by Ted Danson, Steve Guttenberg and Tom Selleck) who discover a baby on their doorstep and are forced to take care of it. Spoiler alert: they grow to love the baby and it’s all very heartwarming and life-affirming.
No news yet on who will play the other two bachelors or who will produce the remake but regardless, we’re very excited.
Since Disney+ launched in the UK back in March (luckily, just as we completed Netflix), it has become our one-stop shop for feel-good films. There are so many amazing movies on Disney+, from Disney classics like the original Beauty and The Beast to remakes like 2019’s Beyoncé-starring The Lion King. You’ll also find the likes of Get A Clue, The Princess Diaries, Mrs. Doubtfire and Lizzie McGuire, as well as the new release of Hamilton The Movie. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
But what about the TV shows? Unsurprisingly, it can be easy to get distracted by the streaming service’s amazing film catalogue – but let’s not unfairly forget the amazing television and documentary offering in the process. From nature documentaries to reality shows and nostalgic classics (That’s So Raven marathon, anyone?), there’s plenty of choice for when a whole film feels like a little too much to commit to.
So what’s on offer? We’re shamelessly obsessed with Disney Fairytale Weddings (think Don’t Tell The Bride, but better) – a reality show which follows the couples who dream of tying the knot in Disney locations across the world. From Mary Poppins-themed ceremonies to glass slippers and Cinderella carriages, you’ll have to pick your jaw up off the floor after this one. Honestly – it’s astonishing. There’s also The Imagineering Story which takes us behind the scenes at Disney World to see the incredible work that goes into designing, testing and creating the rides and sets. Or what about Diana: In Her Own Words – a documentary which features footage of the late Diana, Princess of Wales discussing her personal life and her marriage to Prince Charles? Just when we thought our obsession with her style had reached its peak.
Not yet satisfied? Scroll further through the Disney+ archives and you’ll find an impressive catalogue of 30 entire seasons of The Simpsons – turns out Springfield is a pretty good place to escape to when the real world is scary – plus every episode of Lizzie McGuire you binged on when you were little, and Meghan Markle’s new nature documentary, Elephant. It’s mesmerising.
