HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Two men were arrested early Wednesday after an Uber vehicle was shot at in Hollywood, authorities confirmed.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol trooper, the Uber driver picked up a man and a woman from the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino shortly before the car was shot up in the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 just north of Hollywood Boulevard.

Local 10 News had a crew at the scene as a black Honda could be seen with bullet holes in it.

FHP Lt. Yanko Reyes confirmed that a white Mercedes-Benz and the Honda were traveling south on the highway when the driver of the Mercedes pulled up to the driver side of the Honda.

He and his passenger fired at least four times, hitting mostly the front section of the car between the hood and the door, Reyes said.

Reyes said the Uber driver followed the suspects off the exit to Hollywood Boulevard and called 911 just after 1:45 a.m.

According to Reyes, Hollywood police were patrolling the area when they received the call about the shooting and spotted the Mercedes.

He said police chased the suspects’ car.

Hollywood police confirmed that the suspects parked their car in front of a random home off Polk Street and North 13th Avenue before running off.

A perimeter was set up and both suspects were taken into custody around 4:30 a.m.

Their identities have not yet been released.

A motive for the shooting remains unclear.

No injuries were reported.

Reyes said the case is being investigated by the Bureau of Crime Investigation and Intelligence (BCII).
