Food Truck Fridays

Dawsonville will host Food Truck Fridays on Aug. 14 from 5 to 8 p.m in the new farmer’s market pavilion on Allen Street beside city hall. This community event features different options of food trucks to purchase meals from and a way to have fun with your family and with other members of the community.

The first Food Truck Friday for 2020 was originally scheduled to happen in July but was cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns, so this will be the first one of the year. According to Dawsonville Mayor Mike Eason, protocols will be in place to ensure the safety of all in attendance.

“We will mark off for social distancing and encourage everyone to wear masks,” Eason said. “It will be at the farmers market so anyone who wants to sit and eat can be under the pavilion.”

Movies in the Park:

Dawson County Parks and Recreation will host their second “Movies in the Park” event for the year on the evening of Friday Aug. 14 at Veterans Memorial Park. The event, presented by Northside Hospital Forsyth, will feature swimming, activities, vendors and a showing of the family movie “Trolls World Tour”.

“We will have free swim as part of the event, so people can come out from 5 to 8 p.m. and swim in the pool, and we will have our activities and vendors opening at 6 p.m.,” Recreations Program Manager Buffie Hamil said. “And then the movie will begin at dusk, so somewhere around 8:30-ish or so.”

The event will be contingent upon the weather, so Dawson County Parks and Recreation will be updating the community in case it rains on Friday.

The two events will be in close proximity to each other, so community members can come out and enjoy both on Friday evening.

“You can go grab dinner at Food Truck Friday and then come over to our event,” Hamil said. “They’re close enough to each other that people can do both!”
