Indian Film Festival Returns to Prague 2025
The 22nd Indian Film Festival returns to Prague’s Světozor Cinema from October 30 to November 2, bringing audiences a rich blend of films, dance, and authentic Indian atmosphere.
The event promises to immerse viewers in the color, rhythm, and emotion of Indian cinema — from beloved Bollywood classics to powerful contemporary stories.
“This year’s selection was truly enjoyable and entertaining,” says Radim Špaček, the festival’s artistic director. “We love bringing audiences new films from Indian — mostly Mumbai — studios and sharing the experience of watching them together on the big screen.”
This year’s program opens with Superboys of Malegaon, a warm tribute to small-town filmmakers who once inspired the acclaimed 2008 documentary Supermen of Malegaon.
The lineup also includes a screening of the timeless 1990s hit Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Rani Mukherjee, and Salman Khan — a film that remains one of Bollywood’s most iconic romantic dramas.
Adding a contrasting tone is the British Oscar nominee Santosh, a gripping crime drama that challenges Indian social norms and has been banned from screening in India due to censorship.
The festival will close with Aamir Khan’s latest film Sitaare Zameen Par, a heartfelt remake of the Spanish hit Champions, exploring inclusion and empathy in Indian society.
For the first time, the festival expands beyond film with a full Indian Dance Festival, offering workshops, performances, and private lessons with international instructors. Visitors can enjoy live dance shows before screenings and join a Bollywood gala on Sunday at the Rokoko Theater.
The festive atmosphere will extend throughout the cinema with decorations by artist Sanu Babu, traditional Indian food, and masala chai. On Saturday, November 1, DJ Deepak will return to lead the annual Bollywood party at the 2. Patro club.
