10 Best New Movies and Shows to Stream Now (Including the Long-Awaited Return of a Fan-Favorite Show!)

February 14, 20257 Mins Read

It’s a long weekend and that means one extra day of kicking back and binging the latest and greatest in movies and TV.

This weekend, Feb. 15-17, marks the return of a number of beloved scripted shows on various streaming platforms — including an exciting addition to the highly coveted Sunday night slot on Max.

Not already a die-hard fan of any of the shows debuting new seasons? No problem, this weekend’s streaming hits have something for everyone. Netflix is satisfying every true crime fan’s never-ending craving for more content with the release of American Murder: Gabby Petito, a docuseries that will examine what really happened behind the scenes before the 22-year-old was killed by her boyfriend.

On the lighter side, Marvel’s latest phase 5 project, Captain America: Brave New World, will see Anthony Mackie officially step into the mantle of Captain America for the first time on the big screen. Also, Saturday Night Live is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a big bash, notably not on Saturday but on Sunday — and you’re invited.

And there’s more! Here’s a list of the 10 best new movies and shows to watch this weekend and where to stream them.

Captain America: Brave New World

Marvel is continuing phase 5 with its first release of 2025: Captain America: Brave New World. The movie marks the first time Mackie is picking up the mantle (or, if we’re being literal, the shield) as Captain America in a film following his 2021 series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which saw him grapple with carrying on Steve Rogers’ (Chris Evans) legacy.

Now, he’s joined by the new Falcon, Joaquin Torres (Danny Ramirez) as they work with newly elected U.S. president Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross (Harrison Ford, taking over for the late William Hurt) to reassemble the Avengers.

Captain America: Brave New World releases in theaters on Feb. 14.

Paddington in Peru

Sorry parents, it may be Valentine’s Day on Friday, but more importantly for your kids, the new Paddington movie is out. This time, the beloved bear takes his travels to South America in Paddington in Peru where he searches for his aunt Lucy who has gone missing.

Joining the cast are Olivia Colman and Antonio Banderas as Paddington prepares for a new adventure in the third installment of the series.

Paddington in Peru releases in theaters on Feb. 14.

White Lotus season 3

Perhaps one of the most highly anticipated shows of the year, White Lotus is back — and this time we can be jealous of an all new cast playing elites as they vacation in Thailand. Featuring stars like Aimee Lou Wood, Patrick SchwarzeneggerMichelle MonaghanJason Isaacs, Leslie Bibb and Walton Goggins, this season also marks the return of one previous cast member from season 1: Natasha Rothwell.

“These are people that I idolized growing up, and so sharing the screen with them, I had such imposter syndrome,” Rothwell told PEOPLE in September 2024, adding that they all became “so close.”

Watch the first episode of White Lotus season 3 on Max on Feb. 16, with episodes dropping weekly.

Yellowjackets season 3

After a successful first two seasons of the twisted thriller show, Yellowjackets returns with season 3 — and its only more violent, bloodthirsty and disturbing. If you’re into girls gone wild (but the cannibalistic-lost-in-the-wilderness type), then this show — featuring Christina Ricci and Melanie Lynskey – is certainly for you.

“It’s definitely going to be brutal. But they also put a lot of comedy into it. So I think it’s just going to be … extremely Yellowjackets-y,” Ricci told The Hollywood Reporter in June 2024 of what to expect from this season.

Watch the first two episodes of Yellowjackets season 3 on Feb. 14 on Paramount+ with Showtime before its on-air debut on Feb. 16 at 8 p.m. ET. New episodes will continue to drop weekly through April 11.

Cobra Kai season 6 part 3

It may have been split into three parts, but the long-awaited series finale of Cobra Kai is finally here — and it’s a tearjerker for Karate Kids fans.

Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) finally get their happy ending and put an end to their 40-year brawl (which apparently is the length of time it takes for two macho men to squander their beef) in an emotional final episode that features a number of callbacks to the original beloved 1984 movie.

Love Is Blind season 8

Don’t worry reality TV fans, we didn’t forget about you! Netflix has a little bit of everything this weekend and that includes the return of one of their most successful dating shows — appropriately timed to Valentine’s Day.

The eighth season of Love Is Blind takes the pods to Minneapolis-Saint Paul, Minn., where couples are put to the test: can they fall in love without knowing what their significant other looks like?

American Murder: Gabby Petito

In August 2021, 22-year-old Gabby Petito was murdered by her fiancé Brian Laundrie as the two embarked on a months-long van-life journey, vlogging their experience as they road-tripped across the United States.

Now, Petito’s story will be told in a docuseries, American Murder: Gabby Petito, featuring interviews with her parents and law enforcement as they unveil the domestic abuse that was taking place off camera.

Watch American Murder: Gabby Petito on Netflix on Feb. 17.

SNL50: The Anniversary Special

Saturday Night Live is celebrating its 50th anniversary — and it’s all happening live! Following a televised concert on Friday that will honor the musical guests that have frequented the show, the iconic late night sketch series will air a special episode on Sunday honoring 50 years of laughs, mishaps and good, old-fashioned comedy.

Four original cast members — Chevy Chase, Garrett Morris, Jane Curtin and Laraine Newman — are expected to return, alongside a number of iconic and beloved SNL alums from Adam Sandler to Tina Fey.

Watch the red carpet starting at 7 p.m. ET on NBC followed by the special which will air live at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.

Surviving Black Hawk Down

In another Netflix docuseries, filmmakers look back at The Battle of Mogadishu in Somalia featuring interviews with survivors from both sides. The events inspired Ridley Scott’s 2001 film Black Hawk Down and are now being retold in the three-episode limited series, which was released on Feb. 10.

The Gorge

Anya Taylor Joy and Miles Teller star in this Apple TV+ thriller, out on Feb. 14, as two highly-trained operatives who are assigned to a covert mission at a gorge.

They are each set to protect opposite sides of the chasm and are not allowed to communicate with one another, but must work together to protect the secret of what’s in the gorge from coming out.
