Wolf Man is the latest horror flick set to delight fans, and the director has promised that it’s set to be a horrifying sensory experience.

Directed by Leigh Whannell, Wolf Man is one of the most anticipated horror movies of 2025.

The film centres around a family fighting to survive for their lives after some kind of beast attacks them.

During the attack, Blake’s arm is wounded and he starts to get sick and change into ‘something else’.

The creepy re-imagining of the werewolf genre comes from Whannell, the filmmaker behind Saw, Insidious, and The Invisible Man.

The director, who also was the co-writer of this project, spoke to Discussing Film and revealed that his new film is certainly not for the faint of heart.

‘Don’t come in expecting the usual. Expect something different and distinctive. I think audiences are ready for a new take on this enduring character.

‘Hopefully, they will also have a great night out at the movies. They’ll be scared. They’ll be emotionally affected.

He added that the film is set to be an ‘assault’ for the eyes and the ears.

‘We have gone absolutely crazy with the sound of this film — it’s an audiovisual assault.

‘I know people say this all the time, but this movie was designed for movie theatres because of the audio-visual experience.

‘With Wolf Man, we have used every tool in the systematic arsenal to make it a true cinematic experience,’ he said.

The director also added that he is ‘taking a swing’ with this movie and hopes he is making something ‘fun’.

‘I’m approaching Wolf Man from the angle of not feeling extreme pressure but turning it into something fun, which is just to make the version of this character you would want to see.

‘Because if you want to see it, then there are more people who would also want to see it. It seemed to work with The Invisible Man. Many horror fans said, “This is the Invisible Man movie we wanted.” So, I’m taking another swing.

The budget of this film was $25 million (£20.4 million) and the Hollywood premiere to launch this film was cancelled earlier this month due to the LA wildfires.

It is predicted that the wildfires might affect the film’s performance at the box office further with the movie projected to gross $17–21 million (£13.8 – 17.1 million) during its opening four-day weekend.

Wolf Man is released in cinemas on Thursday, January 17.
