A filmmaker, Ekene Mekwunye, has premiered two of his new movies on a digital streaming platform, Amazon Prime Vide.
The new movies— ‘Ambivalent’ and ‘Kali’— were produced by Mekwunye’s Riverside Productions.
In a statement sent to Saturday Beats, the filmmaker noted that ‘Ambivalent’, which features Gabriel Afolayan, Derby Frankson, Aries Umusu, and Anita James, explores the complexities of a marriage strained by distance and unfulfilled desires. As the protagonist grapples with a workaholic husband, who is often away on business trips, the film delves into the yearning for connection, and the temptations that arise in such circumstances.
On the other hand, ‘Kali’ features an equally impressive cast, including Lota Chukwu, Bimbo Manuel, Nadine Love, Blessing Martyn, Doddy Abili, Sydney Diala, Preach Bassey and Christle Chris-Okafor. The film tells the story of a successful young woman’s journey of self-discovery, as she navigates her attraction to older men.
Mekwunye, who has directed other films, such as ‘Light in the Dark’, ‘One Lagos Night’, and ‘Honey Money’, also noted that he was gearing up for his next feature film, set to begin filming soon.
