Kate Winslet is stepping behind the camera for her directorial debut on Netflix movie Goodbye June.

Winslet teams up once again with her son Joe Anders after they both starred in biopic Lee last year. The Oscar-winning star is set to direct from a script penned by her son, with Winslet also producing the film with Kate Solomon, with Working Title as executive producers.

The stacked cast features Winslet, as well as Toni Collette, Johnny Flynn, Andrea Riseborough, Timothy Spall, and Helen Mirren (via Screen DailyInternational).

Hailed as a contemporary drama about a dysfunctional family, Goodbye June sees a group of siblings having to work through their differences in the wake of a tragic event.

The movie is currently in pre-production and will begin filming in the UK shortly.

While Winslet is gearing up to direct for the first time, some fans are still wondering whether she’d be up for returning in the potential sequel to a beloved movie.

Weighing in on the legacy of festive rom-com The Holiday, Winslet, who played Iris in the movie, said she was surprised that a sequel has never been in the works.

“Honestly, it’s never come up. I promise you,” she told Deadline.

“Actually, I suppose, I’ve been quite surprised that it never came up because it’s the kind of film that probably would lend itself quite well to a sequel, but it has honestly never come up.”

The holiday film also stars Cameron Diaz as Amanda, a Los Angeles woman who signs up for a home swap and trades her Hollywood villa with Iris’s quaint cottage in Surrey. The cast is rounded out by Jude Law and Jack Black as Amanda and Iris’s love interests.

Goodbye June doesn’t have a release date yet.
