New Movies & Shows To Stream This Weekend: Trigger Warning, Roger Federer: Twelve Final Days, Perfect Wife: The Mysterious Disappearance of Sherri Papini + More
If Road House or John Wick are your kind of movie, Netflix’s Trigger Warning might be your new fave. Jessica Alba gets to flex her action muscles in the new film where she stars as a special forces officer who kicks butt when she has to fight off a gang that’s causing chaos in her town. Another real-life chaos-causer, Sherri Papini, gets her own docu-series: Perfect Wife: The Mysterious Disappearance of Sherri Papini on Hulu reveals the grift behind the notoriously false kidnapping case involving the California woman. And in Prime Video’s Federer: Twelve Final Days, we get a rare glimpse into the real life of Roger Federer in the final days of his legendary career.
The new Prime Video documentary Federer: Twelve Final Days was originally shot as a home video to capture the final two weeks of tennis player Rogerer Federer’s career as he played his final tournament, the Laver Cup, in 2022. Featuring Federer and many of his rivals/colleagues/friends, including Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, and others, the film is a glimpse into his personal life during one of the most emotional times in the tennis great’s career.
The story of what happened to Sherri Papini is so crazy and infamous that Eminem name-checked Papini in his new single, “Houdini,” and there’s already been a movie made about her life so far. That film, Hoax: The Kidnapping of Sherri Papini, is available on Hulu, as is the new three-part docu-series Perfect Wife: The Mysterious Disappearance of Sherri Papini, which details the real story of Papini’s kidnapping and eventual return to her home, and the way she elaborately planned the whole thing out herself.
In Netflix’s Trigger Warning, Jessica Alba stars as a Special Forces commando who takes over her father’s bar after he dies and ends up using the skills she acquired in her past life to fight off a violent gang that’s threatening the town. The film co-stars Anthony Michael Hall, Mark Webber, and Gabriel Basso.
