Sydney Sweeney has showcased her body transformation for her role in a new sports biopic movie.

The Euphoria and White Lotus star is playing boxer Christy Martin in a currently-untitled film about her life, which is currently filming under director David Michôd.

On Instagram, Sweeney shared photos of herself with dark brown curly hair and a more muscular build. In the caption, she wrote about undergoing intense training to achieve a boxer’s physique for the role.

“Well the cat’s out of the bag thanks to some paps in bushes so here’s a little [behind the scenes] from my film I’m working on right now,” she wrote.

“Over the past few months, I’ve been immersed in training to bring to life the story of an incredible woman — a true champion who fought battles both inside and outside the ring.

“Her journey is a testament to resilience, strength, and hope, and I’m honored to step into her shoes to share her powerful story with you all. More to come soon.”

Christy Martin competed professionally between 1989 and 2012, and was crowned super welterweight class world champion in 2009.

The next year, her husband James Martin stabbed and shot her at their home in Florida. She survived the attack and, in 2012, saw him sentenced to 25 years in prison on a conviction of attempted second-degree murder.

It’s been a busy year for Sweeney, with the movies Madame Web, Anyone But You, and Immaculate all being released in cinemas.

Things don’t seem like they’ll be slowing down for her, either. She’s also got a thriller with Ana de Armas on the way, as well as a book adaption with Amanda Seyfried and Bridesmaids‘ Paul Feig on directing duties.

Joe Anderton is a freelance news writer at Digital Spy, having worked there since 2016. In his time, he’s covered a host of live events and interviewed celebrities big and small.

A big fan of TV and movies both mainstream and obscure, Joe’s main interest is in video gaming. Although particularly a PlayStation gamer, he plays across Xbox, Nintendo and PC/Steam Deck, and likes to keep tabs on many games he’s not got the time to play.

Joe currently does not use Twitter, but he only ever used it to tell people to watch the film Help! I’m a Fish (which you really should do).
