There are some weeks where it seems like there isn’t a whole lot to talk about as far as new releases go. And there are weeks like this one, where there are so many new movies and shows on streaming that it’s hard to keep track of all of them. There are a few new returning series worth talking about, including Hacks on Max, Selling The O.C. on Netflix, and Welcome to Wrexham on Hulu, some original films, like Jerry Seinfeld’s Unfrosted on Netflix and The Idea of You on Prime Video, and new shows like The Tattooist of Auschwitz on Peacock, and John Mulaney Presents: Everybody’s In L.A., too.
Not sure which new releases to check out? Let us here at Decider help you figure out what to watch this weekend and where to stream it.
New Movies & Shows To Stream This Weekend: Unfrosted, Hacks, The Tattooist of Auschwitz + More
Unfrosted marks the directorial debut of Jerry Seinfeld – heard of him? The Netflix film, a comedic history of the meteoric rise of breakfast’s most gravity-defying food, is a cavalcade of comedy stars passionate about spreading the good word of the world’s first toaster pastry. A new season of the award-winning Hacks premiered on Max this week, too, and the Holocaust drama The Tattooist of Auschwitz is also out now on Peacock.
New on Max May 2: Hacks (Season 3)
The Emmy-winning comedy Hacks is back on Max this week with two new episodes kicking off its third season. Jean Smart returns as the comedy legend Deborah Vance whose tumultuous relationship with her writer Ava Daniels (Hannah Einbinder) forms the basis of this show. This season sees Vance lobbying for a job as a late-night host, the white whale of her longtime career. Two episodes will roll out weekly through May 30. Season three guest stars will include Helen Hunt, Christina Hendricks, and J. Smith-Cameron, among others.
New on Netflix May 3: Unfrosted
Despite the fact that the food Jerry Seinfeld is most closely associated with is breakfast cereal, he’s gone and made a movie about its competition, the Pop Tart. Unfrosted is Seinfeld’s directorial debut, and it stars Melissa McCarthy, Jim Gaffigan, and Hugh Grant and a laundry list of comedians in this fictionalized version of the story of the creation of the Pop Tart.
Based on the book of the same name by Heather Morris, The Tattooist of Auschwitz is the true story of Jewish concentration camp prisoner Lale Sokolov (played by Jonah Hauer-King and Harvey Keitel) whose job was to tattoo identification numbers on the arms of his fellow prisoners. Melanie Lynskey plays the role of Morris, who appears in the show as she interviews Sokolov, and Anna Prochniak plays Gita, the prisoner that Lale falls in love with.
