
Live-Action Sakamoto Days Movie Gets Release Date Window & Cast – Comic Book Movies and Superhero Movie News
A live-action movie version of the hit anime Sakamoto Days has been announced. A release date window and the cast of the movie were also revealed with the announcement. The anime adaptation of Yuta Suzuki’s popular manga is currently streaming on Netflix, with the Season 1 finale scheduled for September 23.
Sakamoto Days’ live-action movie to get a 2026 release date
Sakamoto Days is getting a live-action movie, which is expected to be out in 2026. Based on this schedule, the movie will arrive in theaters during Japan’s Golden Week.
Additionally, according to a report by Crunchyroll, Meguro Ren, known for featuring in the popular love-action adaptation of My Happy Marriage, will reportedly play the role of Taro Sakamoto in the movie. In an announcement on X (formerly Twitter), Toho Movies shared a poster and wrote, “Live-action film adaptation, finally starting! Scheduled for release during Golden Week 6! The movie “SAKAMOTO DAYS” The legendary assassin, Tarou Sakamoto’【Live-action visual】 revealed!”
The live-action adaptation is set to be directed by Fukuda Yuichi, who is known for his work on the live-action version of Gintama. The movie is expected to be released in two parts, and more information related to it will be revealed soon.
The Sakamoto Days anime made its debut on Netflix this year, in January, with Part 1 of Season 1. Part 2 of the first season came out in July 2025. The logline of the anime from its website states that the story revolves around Sakamoto, who has retired from the underworld after falling in love with his wife. As time passed, Sakamoto got engaged in running a convenience store with his wife and kid. However, his life takes a turn after an old colleague enters his life again, and he is forced to return to a world of assassins.
