Thiruvananthapuram: Silvy Maxi Mena, an English teacher at the National Institute of Speech and Hearing (NISH), has created sign language videos for the songs from the movie ‘Aadujeevitham’. Using ‘Mudranatanam’, a creative way to sign language, she has beautifully rendered three songs to cater to the hearing impaired community. ‘Istighfar’ and ‘Perione Rahmane…’ have been composed in this format, with ‘Istighfar’ containing verses from the Quran.
‘Visual Romance’, production company of director Blessy has tied up with Sylvie for the same. ‘Mudranatanam’ is a dance form composed by Silvy with the aim to make art and literature accessible to the hearing impaired. Swathi Thirunal’s work ‘Aliveni Enthucheyvu…’ was the first song performed in Mudranatanam back in 2016.
Silvy is an English teacher at NISH, Thiruvananthapuram. Her husband and journalist Maxi Viswas Mena and her daughter supports her in the endeavour. Her videos are shot and edited by daughter Kripa.
