Thalapathy Vijay’s much-anticipated film “The Greatest of All Time” (The GOAT) has been a topic of conversation among cinephiles. This buzz is further fueled by the fact that it marks Vijay’s second-last film before his full-fledged entry into politics.
Adding to the excitement, the film’s makers unveiled the first single track, “Whistle Podu,” on Sunday, marking the Tamil New Year.
While Vijay has a track record of delivering hit first singles, with notable examples like Aalaporaan Thamizhan from Mersal, “Kutty Story’ from Master, to “Naa Ready” from Leo, “Whistle Podu,” didn’t receive the same level of appreciation.
The beats are pretty basic and the tune is also very average. Vijay’s singing is as usual. Strangely, such a mediocre tune was approved for such a big flick.
Yuvan Shankar Raja’s music lacked the energy and freshness that audiences crave in today’s music scene dominated by the likes of Anirudh who are delivering thumping music with innovative sounds and technology. Even fans are highly disappointed and already missing Anirudh.
“The GOAT” is rumored to be a time-travel story with Vijay in a dual role, drawing comparisons to the Hollywood film “Looper,” although no official confirmation has been provided.
With filming already 80% complete in Russia, the movie boasts a star-studded cast including Meenakshi Chaudhary, Prabhudeva, Prashanth, Sneha, and others. Scheduled for release in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi, anticipation for “The GOAT” continues to build.
