Jack Black has set a new record with his quirky jingle which features in A Minecraft Movie.
Lasting just 34 seconds, ‘Steve’s Lava Chicken’ entered Billboard‘s Hot 100 at number 78 and became the chart’s shortest ever hit.
The song, which appears on A Minecraft Movie‘s official soundtrack, was co-written by Black and director Jared Hess. Fans were delighted by the actor’s performance of the catchy hit, calling it a “joyful silly song”.
“I swear Jack Black is the only man who can sing about lava chicken and it comes out as an absolute banger,” one commented on YouTube.
“Who’s listening to it in repeat? Jack Black is so funny and I love his voice,” praised another, while a third added: “I need an extended version of this song.”

Produced by John Spiker, ‘Steve’s Lava Chicken’ is three seconds shorter than the previous Hot 100 record-holder – Kid Cudi’s 37-second-long ‘Beautiful Trip’.
The track has also secured its place on Billboard‘s Hot Rock Songs chart, reaching a coveted top 10 spot.

The quick jingle is one of four songs performed by Black on A Minecraft Movie‘s soundtrack. The star also features on ‘I Feel Alive’, ‘Ode to Dennis’ and ‘Birthday Rap’ with Jason Momoa.
Black previously reached number 56 on the Hot 100 chart with ‘Peaches’ from The Super Mario Bros. Movie soundtrack in 2023.
“It’s like they saw how popular ‘Peaches’ was so they just gave Jack Black a bunch of moments to show off his vocal pipes,” one fan suggested.
A Minecraft Movie is playing in cinemas now.
