LANA DEL REY was rejected when she wrote a song for the James Bond movie franchise.

The US singer, whose timeless, sultry voice would be perfect for the spy films, pitched for 2015’s Spectre.

But bosses chose Sam Smith’s Writing’s On The Wall instead.

Asked if she would consider writing a Bond theme, she said at the Ivor Novello Awards in London: “I mean, how has that not happened?”

The track, called 24, ended up on her album Honeymoon. Lana, who won a Special International Award at the Ivors, added: “Sam, you did a wonderful job.

“One day, maybe . . . But I’m going to continue to do my little Nancy Sinatra thing every now and then and just pretend it’s the title track.”

But all eyes will now be on who sings the next Bond theme – and Raye has been singled out as the favourite, after winning a record six Brits.

She said: “If they ever approached me, I’d roll over backwards obviously.

“I don’t know how those things happen, but it would be my absolute pleasure.”

Of Lana’s 007 snub, Raye added: “I can’t believe she would have been rejected by them, because she has the perfect energy for it.

“I feel like she would eat that up, and I feel like that should happen in the future.”

How about a collaboration, ladies?

Who’s a real-life Romeo, Zen, Tom?

TOM HOLLAND only had eyes for Zendaya after playing Romeo all night at the Duke Of York theatre in London.

The couple, who started dating three years ago, were photographed holding hands as they left following the press night of Romeo & Juliet.

As we revealed, Tom scales the roof of the West End theatre for a seriously cool scene in the Shakespeare classic. He looked happier than ever after the curtain call.

Tom and the Dune actress have set up home in South West London and are by far one of my favourite celebrity couples – shunning posh haunts for low-key trips to local restaurants and Waitrose.

There’s nothing more humble than still shopping for your own tins of beans when you’re as famous as these two.

Nice body work, Gaga

SHE’S worn a meat dress, flaming bra and was a walking, talking disco ball at Glastonbury in 2009.

Now Lady Gaga has revved it up a notch by wearing part of a car to the premiere of her Gaga Chromatica Ball concert film.

The Poker Face singer appeared at the LA event in the wacky white outfit and told fans: “On the red carpet I told them it was a car part.

They said, ‘What kind?’ and I said, ‘I don’t know, I’m not a mechanic’.”

Sadly, there’s no chance to watch it in Blighty, as Gaga has not yet announced a UK release date.

It wasn’t just her style that got everyone talking, though.

She said her new music will be “completely different” to 2020 album Chromatica and admitted being interested in recording a follow-up to her Beyonce collaboration Telephone.

Gaga said: “Whenever Beyonce calls, I’d like to pick up the phone.”

Hopefully she’ll get on the blower soon, it’s been 15 years now.

Paul: I’m finally on song

Paul Weller says his singing voice has only gotten better as he has grown olderCredit: Getty

PAUL WELLER says that he’s only just mastered the art of singing.

Despite performing for the past 50 years and finding fame as frontman of The Jam, he said: “My voice has got better. It’s improved over the last few years.

“To be quite honest I think I can only sing properly now.

“I don’t think I did before, that’s only been in the last five or six years.

“I get frustrated if I hear old stuff of mine.”

But he was struggling for inspiration, so called on Noel Gallagher and Bobby Gillespie to write songs for his new album, 66, which is out now.

Paul said: “It’s harder to find things to write about because your experiences don’t come as quickly as they did when you’re younger.

“Rather than writing s**t or substandard lyrics, I’d sooner get someone else to write some words.”

CALUM SCOTT returns to Britain’s Got Talent next week – nine years after getting his big break on it.

I’m told boss Simon Cowell personally invited him on to the reality show, which enters the live semi-finals run from Monday.

He will perform new single Then There Was You from The Garfield Movie.

Calum is on tour with Ed Sheeran and working on his third album. Bravo.

Paul McCartney took a cheeky a dig at pal Bruce SpringsteenCredit: Rex

PAUL McCARTNEY couldn’t resist a dig at Bruce Springsteen as the US rock legend was inducted into the Fellowship of the Ivors Academy.

On stage in London, Macca teased: “He’s known as the American working man but he admits he’s never worked a day in his life.

“And when it comes to talent, he’d definitely be in the top five.”

Bruce took it all in good humour.
