Lana Del Rey was honored at the Ivor Novello Awards in London on Thursday, receiving a Special International Award in recognition of her career and influence. In an interview with the BBC at the ceremony, Del Rey revealed that her song, “24,” was originally written to be used as the theme song in the 2015 James Bond film, Spectre. The BBC asked her if she would ever write a song for the 007 franchise. “I mean, how has that not happened yet?” Lana coyly replied, before singing a snippet of the chorus of “24,” and revealing, “I wrote that for them.” It was ultimately rejected in favor of Sam Smith’s “Writing’s on the Wall.” As to whether she’ll ever try to write another Bond theme, Lana replied, “One day, maybe…But I’m going to continue to do my little Nancy Sinatra thing every now and then and just pretend it’s the title track.” (Rolling Stone)
