The Music of Hans Zimmer vs. John Williams comes to the iconic venue with the Manchester Concert Orchestra, conducted by Robert Emery, paying homage to two of the greatest film composers of all time – including Williams, who created the epic Star Wars score.
Featured music from Star Wars will include Across the Stars (Attack of the Clones), Princess Leia’s Theme (A New Hope), Throne Room & Finale (A New Hope) and Rey’s Theme (The Force Awakens).

American composer John Williams was born in New York in 1932 – he turned 93 on February 8, 2025.
He has composed some of the most popular, recognisable and critically acclaimed film scores in cinema history – immersive, emotionally charged soundtracks on blockbusters like Star Wars, E.T., and Jurassic Park.
William uses a full orchestra for lush, sweeping scores. His music tends to be romantic, with soaring melodies, heart-pounding action sequences and his signature use of brass and strings.
In a seven decades career he has five Academy Awards – with 54 Oscar nominations, the second most-nominated individual ever, after Walt Disney. He has 26 Grammy Awards, seven BAFTAs, three Emmy Awards and four Golden Globe Awards.
German born Hans Zimmer, now 67, has won two Oscars and four Grammys. He often uses modern synthesisers and samples, plus live instruments, from electric guitars to strings and brass, to create a unique and dynamic sound.
His music tends to be dark and brooding. He is highly acclaimed for his work on films such as Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, The Dark Knight, Gladiator and Inception.
