Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali is receiving acclaim for his debut web series, ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’. His upcoming project is the film ‘Love & War’, starring Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, and Vicky Kaushal. Officially announced in January 2024, SLB recently provided an update on the movie’s music during an interview, revealing that he has composed a song for it.
In a recent interview with Galatta Plus, Sanjay Leela Bhansali talked about composing a song for his eagerly awaited film ‘Love & War’, which features Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, and Vicky Kaushal in the lead roles. Bhansali mentioned that although he’s uncertain about where the song will fit into the film, he believes the movie would be incomplete without it.
Describing the process as extremely “spontaneous”, “erratic” and “chaotic”, Sanjay Leela Bhansali remarked, “I have created a song for Love & War, and I don’t know where I’ll fit it in, but I have created it. And now I’ll find a way, and I know that song has to be in the film, and without that song, the film would be incomplete.”
Sanjay Leela Bhansali is teaming up with Ranbir Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal and Alia Bhatt for a new film titled Love and War. The film reunites Bhansali and Kapoor after 17 years and marks the filmmaker’s first film with Kaushal. Bhansali reunites with Bhatt after the success of Gangubai Kathiawadi. The new film was announced on Wednesday, January 24. The film is slated to release on Christmas 2025.
The news of the film was shared by Kaushal on Instagram. The post featured the announcement along with Kaushal, Bhatt and Kapoor’s signatures. Sharing the post, Vicky wrote, “An eternal cinema dream has come true. ❤️✨ #SanjayLeelaBhansali #RanbirKapoor @aliaabhatt @prerna_singh6 @bhansaliproductions #LOVEandWAR.”
The news about the film came a day after Pinkvilla reported that Kapoor and Bhansali were in talks for a project. “To set things straight, it’s an original love story and not, inshallah. Sanjay Leela Bhansali has been very keen to take a step back from the period drama’s intense tone. He has been looking to make a love story, and this subject has been at the back of his mind for a while now. SLB feels this is the best time to make a love story and is very excited to tap this genre,” the source shared.
“Both Ranbir and Alia heard the narration and loved what they heard. While Alia has already signed the dotted lines, the talks with Ranbir are in the advanced stages,” the insider said before adding, “Vicky is of course excited to come on board SLB’s film and is figuring out his dates for the later part of the year. Once the dates are sorted, he will sign the dotted lines. Vicky has loved the subject.”
With Love and War, Ranbir and Vicky are reuniting on the big screen after Sanju and Ranbir and Alia are being paired together after Brahmastra.
