Summary
- Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) features songs in their proper place, which is a major improvement over the VoD release.
- “The Archer,” “Long Live,” and “Wildest Dreams” now all appear in the main set, rather than stuck at the very end of the movie.
- The placement of “Long Live” is particularly good, as it means the Speak Now era has more to it.
Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) is the most complete form of the concert film yet, improving on its previous releases in significant ways. The Eras Tour is called Taylor’s Version on Disney+ not only as a nod to her album re-releases but because, like those, it includes some differences and additions to what came before. The release in both theaters and on VoD was missing some songs, but most are now restored.
Thanks to Taylor’s Version, “Cardigan,” one of the most notable omissions previously, is now included among the songs in Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour Movie, along with four acoustic songs. However, while not a brand-new addition, the placement of certain songs missing from the theatrical release – but featured on the VoD version – makes a huge difference to the overall experience.

It is impossible for Swifties to pick a favorite song in the Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour movie, but some performances highlight the music better.
The Eras Tour Movie (Taylor’s Version) Puts Taylor Swift Songs In The Right Order
“The Archer,” “Long Live,” and “Wildest Dreams” are back where they belong.
For the VoD release of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, three songs were added back in: “The Archer,” from Lover; “Long Live,” from Speak Now, and “Wildest Dreams” from 1989. Although it was great to have the songs included since they were missing from the theatrical release, the placement of them was jarring. Rather than appearing where they would on the setlist, the trio was just placed at the very end of the movie, which resulted in them feeling simply tacked on.
The staging, costuming, and choreography is far more at home in its respective era, rather than simply coming across as hastily added bonus material.
Thankfully, The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) addresses this problem. Each of the three songs has been properly edited into the main set, appearing in their respective era where they belong. This does justice to the songs individually, as it gives each a much stronger feel to it, and a proper sense of place. The staging, costuming, and choreography is far more at home in its respective era, rather than simply coming across as hastily added bonus material.

The concert overall is improved too, as it makes everything more cohesive and the transitions between songs are smoother. The set flows properly and feels almost complete (though two songs are missing from The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) – “No Body, No Crime,” and “Seven.”). It gives viewers the true experience of those songs that you’d get if at the concert, and given the point of the movie is to recreate that as closely as possible, it’s far better to have them in the main set.
The Eras Tour Restoring “Long Live” Fixes Another Taylor Swift Movie Problem
Speak Now wasn’t done justice before.
Perhaps the major beneficiary of putting the songs back into the proper order is Speak Now. Aside from The Eras Tour mostly ignoring Taylor Swift’s debut album, it’s her third release that has the slightest section of the setlist. Even in the full concert, Swift only performs two songs from Speak Now, but it was worse in the theatrical and VoD releases.
With “Long Live” either cut completely or moved to the end, then it meant there was only one song performed from it (“Enchanted”) and, as stunning a number as it is, it hardly felt fitting to have an entire era introduced and then done with in one song
With “Long Live” either cut completely or moved to the end, then it meant there was only one song performed from it (“Enchanted”) and, as stunning a number as it is, it hardly felt fitting to have an entire era introduced and then done with in one song. “Long Live” being back in place improves things massively, doing far more justice to Speak Now. It also avoids having the song played twice in quick succession at the end, since it also plays over the credits.
The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) Still Has Songs After The Credits, But They Work
The acoustic songs’ placement makes sense.
Like the VoD release, Taylor’s Version does have songs after the credits, but they make more sense. This is where Swift adds the remaining acoustic/surprise songs, and it’s a sensible way of including them, even if it does mean “Our Song” and “You’re On Your Own, Kid” are repeated. It couldn’t have six acoustic songs in the “main” set, as it would be too many and wouldn’t actually represent the concert experience (where Swift only ever plays two).
Why Taylor Swift Plays “Our Song” & “You’re On Your Own, Kid” Twice In The Eras Tour Movie (Taylor’s Version)
The newly released Eras Tour Movie (Taylor’s Version) has Swifties and newcomers alike wondering why Taylor Swift plays two of her hit songs twice.
Putting them at the end is the most logical way of including them, and effectively creates a standalone acoustic set that works as its own complete thing, which is a nice way to fully sign off from Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version).
