The much-awaited lyrical video of the song “Jaragandi” from the movie “Game Changer” was released finally but got a mixed response from the audience.
Directed by Shankar and choreographed by Prabhu Deva, with music by SS Thaman, there were high expectations from the song. However, the song failed to meet expectations and received a poor response on YouTube.
Jaragandi accumulated 4.5 million views and 275k likes in 24 hours, which is considered disappointing for a movie featuring a star hero like Ram Charan.
This view count is the lowest for any star hero in recent memory, which many consider shocking. The song received 310k and 510k views on the Hindi and Tamil versions respectively.
But the reality is that this response isn’t surprising at all. The Jaragandi song is a routine commercial dance number with no WOW factor.
When an Oscar-winning song like Naatu Naatu didn’t break out initially when it was released, how can you expect a pan-India audience to embrace Jaragandi?
For the pan-India audience, the song offers nothing particularly remarkable. Bollywood regularly churns out similar dance numbers featuring stars like Shahid Kapoor and Tiger Shroff, making it difficult for “Jaragandi” to stand out.
Also, Prabhu Deva needs to realize Shahid & Hrithik were in a different league and Ram Charan is not capable of these odd contortions & shapes in choreography!
Forget the pan-India audience, even the Telugu audience is now done with such songs that belong to the routine template. Shankar himself directed such songs 18 years back in Aparichitudu (Randaka).
The makers of Game Changer need to come up with better content to keep the hype going.
