Will a Live-Action Simpsons Movie Ever Happen?
In reality, there are no known plans at this time to take the franchise into live-action territory, though the animated series is still running strong. The show’s 36th season will be debuting on Fox this fall, as the series remains just as popular as it’s ever been. It’s also possible that a second animated feature film could end up happening soon, as it was teased prior to the release of Inside Out 2 that the Disney and Pixar movie’s potential success could help get The Simpsons Movie 2 greenlit. Inside Out 2 has since become the highest-grossing animated movie of all time.

The Simpsons Bringing Back Major Guest Star 33 Years After Character’s Introduction
A fan favorite guest star from the early years of The Simpsons is making a return in an upcoming episode.
“I think it’s a bigger issue than The Simpsons,” co-showrunner Al Jean told Screen Rant. “On several levels, we’re really hoping for Inside Out 2 to do great this summer. I want to see the animation business completely returned to what it was before the pandemic. And then, I think if that was the case, it would make sense to do The Simpsons theatrically. But I understand that it’s an issue above me about, ‘Where would you release it? And how would you release it?'”
Jean added, “And we are, with the shorts and other things, streaming on Disney+, so I love seeing animated movies in theaters. I loved The Boy and the Heron that just won the Oscar, I’ll always go see the Miyazaki movies that come out. So, I really am all for animation being fully theatrical, so I hope that’s where it goes.”
Classic episodes of The Simpsons are streaming on Disney+.
