Hyderabad: At WWDC 2025, Apple made headlines by introducing the world’s first haptic movie trailer, designed for its upcoming racing drama F1: The Movie, starring Brad Pitt. The two-minute trailer, available on iPhones running iOS 18.4 or later, uses the Taptic Engine to deliver synchronized vibrations that match the on-screen action—transforming your device into a mini 4DX theater.
The immersive trailer features intense rumblings during engine revs, subtle taps during pit stops, and sharp jolts during gear shifts. Apple calls it a new era of mobile media interaction, blending audio, visual, and tactile feedback.
Directed by Top Gun: Maverick filmmaker Joseph Kosinski, the film follows Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt), a retired Formula 1 driver making a dramatic comeback alongside rookie Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris). The trailer offers a visceral experience—when the tires screech or the engine growls, your iPhone vibrates accordingly, making viewers feel like they’re right on the racetrack.
Apple collaborated closely with the film’s production team to engineer each vibration moment using Core Haptics and Audio-to-Haptics tools. “We wanted to enhance storytelling by adding a sense of touch,” said an Apple spokesperson.
Exclusively viewable via the Apple TV app, this haptic trailer isn’t just a marketing gimmick—it’s a tech demonstration of what’s possible in future immersive media.
How to watch: The haptic trailer is available only via the Apple TV app on compatible iPhones running iOS 18.4 or later. Users can search F1: The Movie in the app to experience the tactile teaser.
F1: The Movie hits theaters worldwide on June 27.
