Fans all notice one particular thing as trailer drops to sequel 'so gory and disgusting' that star vomited

A star of the film actually threw up due to how disgusting a scene was

When it comes to horror films, gore and frights can be bad – but it takes a lot to get a physical reaction from fans.

We all probably jumped out our skin at various points in Get Out and the newly released Under Paris, but no one was vomiting.

Well, a new horror film coming out this year is not only so gory and disgusting that it might be advisable to go in on an empty stomach, as it even made one of the stars of the film vomit. Ew.

The first trailer released just yesterday, so get into it and see if you reckon it’s as scary as it sounds.

The film is Smile 2, a sequel to a film that was called ‘one of the creepiest of 2022’ when it came out.

It follows a curse in which a popstar encounters people everywhere she goes possessed by an entity that leaves them with a creepy smile, and encourages them to carry out awful acts.

If the sequel’s trailer is anything to go by, this will be a standout in a stellar year for horror flicks – but everyone has noticed one particular thing about the trailer.

Amongst the various brutal scenes from the trailer – one at the end creates a swipe of blood across the ground.

As the title card for Smile 2 forms its clear – the blood has formed a creepy smile as is customary for the film.

One fan posted a screenshot of the bloody smile on X (formerly known as Twitter), saying: “This is so clever,” whilst another added: “Very, I didn’t notice it till now.”

In an interview with Sirius XM’s Jess Cagle show, star Lukas Gage spoke about the sequel, calling it ‘gory and disgusting’.

He said: “I’m so scared to give any spoilers away. I just — if you love the first movie, you’re gonna love this one.

“It’s so terrifying. It was the first time I’ve ever been on a set where I was genuinely afraid, and I actually got sick to my stomach in one take.

“I didn’t think I would. I just, it was so gory and so disgusting.”

He later in the interview confirmed that he vomited off camera during filming.

Gage is the only member of the cast of the first film to be returning for the sequel.

Despite this though, it isn’t clear how long he will feature based on the trailer – as he cries out in terror at seeing the spirit, before slamming a gym weight into his own face.

Call me a sicko all you like, small part or not – if a horror film is gross enough to get the cast throwing up, my morbid curiosity means I will absolutely be seeing it.

Smile 2 will release in US cinemas on 18 October, 2024.
