Godzilla x Kong 3 is filming now. In this article you’ll find everything you need to know about the next chapter in the MonsterVerse, from the expected release date, to what characters will be coming back.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire released in the Summer of 2024. It grossed a total of $571.9 million worldwide, surpassing Kong: Skull Island‘s $568 million, and cementing the success of the MonsterVerse franchise by becoming its highest-grossing entry yet.

Godzilla x Kong 3 Plot

Warner Bros. has yet to reveal an official synopsis for Godzilla x Kong, but it’ll almost certainly follow directly on from the events in the previous film. Kong is now the ruler of Hollow Earth, the ancient realm containing a menagerie of weird and wonderful creatures, and his beef with Godzilla is, for now, squashed.

What’s likely to happen in Godzilla x Kong 3 is the emergence of another apex predator from Hollow Earth, similar to the Skar King, that forces Kong and Godzilla to work together. We’ve barely scratched the surface of Hollow Earth, so the film will continue delving deeper, showcasing new regions and introducing new Titans.

What is the MonsterVerse?

The MonsterVerse is Warner Bros.’s cinematic universe starring Godzilla and King Kong. It’s collectively grossed over $2.5B worldwide. The MonsterVerse kicked off with Godzilla in 2014. Here are all the franchise entries.

Godzilla x Kong Trailer

There is currently no trailer for Godzilla x Kong 3. That’s because shooting is still underway, with no clips, footage, or art released yet. As for when the first trailer will drop, this is expected to be Fall 2026, as the previous film released its debut teaser approximately six months before the worldwide release.

When Is Godzilla x Kong 3 Coming Out?

Godzilla x Kong 3 will hit theatres on March 29, 2027. Shooting has begun on the film, with post-production set to take place throughout 2026. The film’s new star Kaitlyn Dever confirmed the news to 7News Australia, saying recently, “I’m shooting another film in Queensland right now, so I just popped down to Sydney for all of this press then I’m going back there.”

There are several new cast members for Godzilla x Kong 3. Australian actress Alycia Debnam-Carey (Apple Cider Vinegar) is the newest addition. There’s also Kaitlyn Dever, who plays Abby in HBO series The Last Of Us Season 2. Other additions are Delroy Lindo and Matthew Modine.
