A concept trailer is imagining Jensen Ackles in the starring role in the MCU’s Ghost Rider movie. It’s a sneak peek at what the popular Supernatural actor might look like as Johnny Blaze.
The concept trailer was uploaded to YouTube by KH Studios. It was edited using footage from Ackles as seen in Supernatural and The Boys, blended with clips from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and even Terminator 2: Judgment Day. A voiceover from Ackles can be heard as the footage plays, culminating with the Ghost Rider logo. The video can be watched below.

Ackles has yet to make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut, but he does have experience in the superhero genre. He shined as Soldier Boy in Amazon’s The Boys, a role he reprised for a memorable cameo in the spinoff series Gen V. Ackles also voiced Jason Todd in the animated film Batman: Under the Red Hood. He’d go on to become the voice of the Dark Knight himself in more recent animated films, including Batman: The Long Halloween and the new, ongoing Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths movie series.
Nicolas Cage previously played Johnny Blaze in 2007’s Ghost Rider, becoming the first actor to play a live-action incarnation of the titular character. In 2011, Cage reppeared in the role for the sequel, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. Cage has been rumored to appear in the MCU through the multiverse, possibly in Deadpool & Wolverine or Avengers: Secret Wars, but a return hasn’t been officially confirmed.

The Robbie Reyes version of Ghost Rider also appeared in the TV show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and there were plans at one point for the character to get a spinoff series, but that never came to fruition. There has been some debate over whether Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is officially considered to be MCU canon, though even if so, the Johnny Blaze version of Ghost Rider could still be a part of another project that’s a part of the continuity.
What’s Next for Jensen Ackles?
As for Ackles, there is speculation he will return as Soldier Boy in the fourth season of The Boys. He recently took on his newest role with an appearance in the hit CBS series Tracker. What’s coming next remains to be seen, though it has been teased that a revival of Supernatural could be happening, which would reunite Ackles with Jared Padalecki.
