Nosferatu trailer released online after cinema debut

June 24, 20243 Mins Read

Nosferatu‘s first trailer has finally been released online after it was debuted exclusively in US cinemas last week.

The eagerly-awaited horror remake from The Northman writer/director Robert Eggers will creep into cinemas over Christmas. We’ve had first-look images, but the remake has largely been kept hidden – until now.

Nosferatu‘s trailer debuted exclusively in US cinemas with The Bikeriders last Friday (June 21), so we’ve had to wait.

But we think you’ll agree that the trailer has been worth the wait, packed with terrifying imagery and an ominous “he is coming” warning. It smartly keeps the new version of Nosferatu himself under wraps though, but we do get some chilling glimpses.

The horror remake stars Bill Skarsgård, Nicholas Hoult, Lily-Rose Depp, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin and Simon McBurney, as well as Eggers regulars Willem Dafoe and Ralph Ineson.

Nosferatu is the second remake of the classic 1922 horror movie of the same name, and centres on a haunted young woman (Depp) and the terrifying vampire Count Orlok (Skarsgård) who is infatuated with her.

It will be unleashed in US cinemas on Christmas Day, but currently it looks like we’ll have to wait until January 1, 2025 for it to be released in the UK.

We’re still hopeful for a Christmas miracle though, even if it won’t be Christmas Day as cinemas are closed in the UK on December 25.

The movie was originally set to star Anya Taylor-Joy and Harry Styles, but both had to drop out due to production delays and scheduling conflicts.

Skarsgård recently told Esquire that the role took its toll on him. “It was like conjuring pure evil. It took a while for me to shake off the demon that had been conjured inside of me,” he recalled.

Imagine what impact it’s going to have on cinema audiences.

Nosferatu is released in US cinemas on December 25 and is released in UK cinemas on January 1, 2025.
