“All we can do is – be funny.” Roll up for a stoner fest this April! An official trailer has arrived for Cheech & Chong’s Last Movie, which is sadly not another sequel in their franchise, but actually a documentary film about the stoners and their iconic careers. This new doc from filmmaker David Bushell explores their 5-decade career performing stand-up, making records, and starring in hit films. It covers their lives, comedy partnership, and lasting influence on pop culture. “One road trip, two comedy legends, and a whole lot of smoke.” Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong are an iconic marijuana-loving comedy duo that rocked the big screens years ago. They made a series of successful stoner comedy movies back in the day: the OG – Up in Smoke (1978), Cheech and Chong’s Next Movie (1980), Nice Dreams (1981), Things Are Tough All Over (1982), Still Smokin (1983), and Cheech & Chong’s The Corsican Brothers (1984). Plus Cheech & Chong’s Animated Movie! in 2013, but I don’t think many people saw this one. Of course this will be in theaters on 4/20 this spring, with a regular theatrical release the weekend after. Not only does this look funny, but it looks like a damn good time with old friends being honest about their weed-filled lives in entertainment. 🚬

“Bring a bud.” 🥦🌬🔥 Cheech and Chong’s Last Movie defies documentary expectations, offering a wildly imaginative take on genre convention; a true-life tale told with a mix of animation & archival madness, all underscored by a classic cinematic road trip comedy. Tracing the enduring legacy of pioneering comics Cheech Marin & Tommy Chong, the film features interviews, sketches, and never-before-seen footage spanning the duo’s five-decade career. The result is an unlikely story of friendship and fame, turmoil and defiance, rebellion and ultimately – redemption. Cheech and Chong’s Last Movie is a documentary film directed by American producer / filmmaker David Bushell, making his feature directorial debut after directing the short doc Jim Carrey: I Needed Color previously. It’s produced by David Bushell and Robbi Chong; executive produced by John Paul DeJoria, Gary Haseley, Cleo Segura Sherrel, & Christian Selleron. Cheech and Chong’s Last Movie will debut in US theaters nationwide starting on April 25th, 2025 this spring – with special early access screenings for stoners on 4/20 @ 4:20pm (naturally). Who’s up for this?
