A new trailer for PADDINGTON IN PERU has given fans a first look at the upcoming movie which follows the beloved bear on an unexpected journey through South America.

In the movie, “Paddington heads to Peru to visit his beloved Aunt Lucy, who now resides at the Home for Retired Bears. With the Brown family in tow, adventure ensues whan a mystery plunges them into an unexpected journey through the Amazon rainforest and to the mountain peaks of Peru,” according to a description of the movie.

Ben Wishaw will reprise his role as the voice of Paddington Bear and is joined by Antonia Banderas, Hugh Bonneville, Emily Mortimer, Olivia Coleman, Julie Walters, Madeline Harris, Samuel Joshin, Jim Broadbent, Carla Tous and Imelda Staunton as the voice of Aunt Lucy.

Both PADDINGTON and PADDINGTON 2 won Movieguide®’s Teddy Bear Awards® for their wholesome family content.

PADDINGTON IN PERU is set to debut in the UK on Nov. 8, 2024, followed by an international release in January 2025 on MLK weekend.

The Paddington franchise is based on the children’s book series by Michael Bond. The previous movies maintained the winsomeness that has made the character popular for over 65 years. A portion of Movieguide®’s review reads:

PADDINGTON is delightfully funny, winsome and absolutely charming. Its hero gets into all sorts of comical, and even exciting, predicaments. PADDINGTON has many heartwarming moments, with positive messages about caring for and protecting one’s family, being kind to strangers, and having polite manners. It does have three light profanities and scenes of jeopardy. Also, the villain is mean, and the family’s maid gets drunk in one scene. Otherwise, PADDINGTON is great wholesome fun.

Though the third movie in the series is under new leadership after the departure of director Paul King, the upcoming movie is expected to follow in the footsteps of the previous movies and provide a thrilling experience for all ages.

Movieguide®’s David Outten previously said of PADDINGTON:

PADDINGTON is one of the rare movies that features a father, a mother and their children in a rousing adventure. Each of the family members is charming in their own way and has the opportunity to do something heroic. The tension in the story is very similar to Pixar’s UP. Paddington is threatened by someone out to turn him into a stuffed museum display. His adopted family must save him.

This is the kind of movie we would like to see more of: high quality, family entertainment.

At the presentation, we saw previews for several upcoming animated movies. Most, I have no desire to take my grandchildren to see. I get tired of dark forests and villains that look like something out of a nightmare.

While Paddington, the bear, is obviously animated, the movie feels like a live action movie compared to Pixar, Disney and DreamWorks offerings. Does anyone remember the days of SWISS FAMILY ROBINSON when a live family could have a great adventure? PADDINGTON is that kind of movie.
