The first trailer has been released for new boxing film Giant, which stars Amir El-Masry and Pierce Brosnan and is based on the true story of Prince Naseem “Naz” Hamed.
The film comes from executive producer Sylvester Stallone, who certainly has a pedigree when it comes to boxing movies.
The trailer charts Naseem’s journey to boxing great-hood, with particular focus on his relationship with trainer and manager Brendan, played by Brosnan.
Like in MobLand, Brosnan is once again doing an Irish accent for the role – so if you were unconvinced then, he now has another opportunity to change minds here.

The official synopsis for the film says: “Based on the remarkable real-life story of legendary British-Yemeni boxing champion Prince Naseem “Naz” Hamed.
“Charting his inspiring rags-to-riches underdog tale from his humble beginnings in Sheffield to becoming champion of the world and a global sporting icon in the 1990s, the film explores the unlikely and tender relationship between Naz and his Irish boxing trainer Brendan Ingle; and the instrumental role that Ingle played on his road to success.
“With exhilarating and visceral scenes in the ring, coupled with deeply moving and intimate moments behind the curtain, Giant is an inspiring biopic of one of the greatest showmen the sporting world has even seen – the untold true story of the boy behind The Prince.”
Giant has been written and directed by Rowan Athale, who is best-known for his work on two episodes of Gangs of London.
While there is no confirmed release date for the movie yet, it marks just another part of Brosnan’s very busy year, with the actor having already starred in MobLand, Black Bag and The King of Kings, while he will soon be seen in The Thursday Murder Club.
Giant will be released in cinemas soon.
