Russell Crowe is starring in another exorcism horror film, but this time he’s the possessed one in the trailer for The Exorcism. Vertical released the trailer on Thursday for the supernatural horror film, which was originally titled The Georgetown Project. You can check it out below.
The film’s original title is eyebrow-raising, considering that the film stars Crowe as an actor who begins to show erratic behavior while shooting a horror film. The original Exorcist was set in Georgetown, and the new film’s tagline — “They were making a cursed movie. They were warned not to. They should have listened” — has similarities to The Exorcist’s reputation as a “cursed” film.
The film is directed by Joshua John Miller from a script he co-wrote with M.A. Fortin. It stars Crowe, Ryan Simpkins, Sam Worthington, Chloe Bailey, Adam Goldberg, David Hyde Pierce, Adrian Pasdar, Tracey Bonner and Josh Warren and is described as follows:
Academy Award-winner Russell Crowe stars as Anthony Miller, a troubled actor who begins to unravel while shooting a supernatural horror film. His estranged daughter, Lee (Ryan Simpkins), wonders if he’s slipping back into his past addictions or if there’s something more sinister at play.”
This is Crowe’s second demonic horror film in as many years; he starred in The Pope’s Exorcist last year.
