Samara Weaving makes her return to bloody horror with the new film Azrael, and the first trailer for the movie is online. IFC Films released the trailer for the film on Monday and you can check it out below.
The trailer teases a post-apocalyptic world in which no one speaks, and where Weaving’s character escapes being sacrificed. She then goes on the run with a supernatural creature and the cult that imprisoned her on the run, with plenty of violence and tension unspooled.
The film is directed by E.L. Katz (The Haunting of Bly Manor) and comes from a script by Simon Barrett (You’re Next). Releasing in theaters on September 27th, the film also stars Nathan Stewart-Jarrett & Vic Carmen Sonne and is described as follows:
In a world in which no one speaks, a devout female-led community hunts down a young woman who has escaped her imprisonment. Recaptured by its ruthless leaders, Azrael is to be sacrificed to pacify an ancient evil that resides deep within the surrounding wilderness – yet she will stop at nothing to ensure her own freedom and survival. From the seeds of this gritty, relentless parable of sacrifice and salvation, comes an immersive, real-time, action horror tale.
